Wolves are reportedly willing to offload Goncalo Guedes this month, according to TalkSport journalist Alex Crook.
Wolves only signed the attacker during the previous summer transfer window from Valencia in a deal worth a reported £27.5m.
Since then, the 26-year-old has made 18 appearances for the Midlands club across all competitions, starting 12 of them and scoring two goals in the process.
Despite only recently joining the club on a five-year deal, the £90k-per-week winger could be facing a rather premature exit from Molineux before the end of the month.
In a recent report for talkSPORT, Crook had this to say regarding the situation surrounding Guedes and what the remainder of the January transfer window could hold for him:
“Wolves are willing to offload Goncalo Guedes after just six months at the club. Guedes’ hopes of forcing his way into new manager Julen Lopetegui’s plans have been further hit by the signing of ex-Southampton midfielder Mario Lemina and impending arrivals of PSG star Pablo Sarabia and Joao Gomes from Flamengo.”
Should Wolves get rid of Goncalo Guedes this month?
Yes
No
The summer recruit’s overall league performances have earned him a rather underwhelming season rating of 6.38/10 from WhoScored, leaving 16 other players at Wolves with higher ratings.
While this suggests that the Portugal international has not had a strong start to life at his new club, we feel that moving him out this month – whether it be on loan or on a permanent basis – would not be the right thing to do.
Despite not being particularly potent in front of goal, Guedes’ versatility in being able to play across numerous attacking positions would surely make him a useful option for Lopetegui to have at his disposal.
Moving forward, we feel that rather than getting rid of him this month, Lopetegui should continue giving the attacker chances to play and improve his game.
