Journalist Alasdair Gold has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are looking to sign two players in the January transfer window.
Antonio Conte has made it very clear to the media, Spurs fans and the board that he needs to be backed once again in the transfer window to ensure he keeps building the squad and is able to mould this team into his own.
This is despite having been handed a transfer warchest over the summer which saw him handed eight new signings that totalled over £140m, although Gold doesn’t think it will be a crazy January at Hotspur Way.
Indeed, the Spurs journalist has claimed on the Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham podcast that Spurs are looking to bring in two new players, much like last winter.
Will Spurs be active in January?
Yes!
No!
He said: “What I keep hearing is at least two new faces in January of a similar standard to what they did with Bentancur and Kulusevski, in that they are two signings that will galvanise the squad and really push them on in the second half, so that’s the plan.”
TIF Thoughts on Spurs’ January transfer plans…
It will be reassuring that Daniel Levy and the Spurs board aren’t resting on their laurels given their current placing in the top four and passage through to the knockout stages of the Champions League and are actively looking to improve the squad.
The only question that remains is whether Levy and Spurs will look to get those targets in early to allow them time to be integrated into the squad and start making an impact quickly or wait until deadline day to try and get a cheaper deal – which wouldn’t likely go down well with Conte.
