West Brom are closing in on appointing Slaven Bilic as their new manager, according to the Birmingham Mail.
The newspaper report that the former West Ham boss met with officials of the club on Thursday for a second round of talks, and is now the favourite for the job at The Hawthorns.
The outlet claim that Baggies’ sporting director Luke Dowling has been in contact with a number of managers since the end of the season, however the Croatian is now leading the way.
Bilic managed 109 games with his former club West Ham, and racked up an impressive 63 games in charge of the Croatian national side from 2006 to 2012.

It seems that talks are continuing with the former Premier League manager, and it is looking increasingly likely now that Bilic will be the new West Brom manager in the coming days. This would be a brilliant appointment from the Baggies, and it could be the move which finally helps to send the club back to the Premier League after a near miss in the Championship play-off semi-finals this season. West Brom would surely benefit from Bilic’s past experience, on an international level as well as in the English divisions, and his arrival could help to spur the midlands side on in their promotion push next season. The Baggies’ fans should have some excitement about this one, as apart from the fact that it looks almost a done-deal, their club will have one of the most well-known and respected managers in the league, which is something to think about. So maybe West Brom fans should be bracing themselves to welcome the 50-year-old Bilic to the club.
