Wilfried Zaha will want to leave Crystal Palace and test his ability at a top club says former Premier League midfielder Carlton Palmer, who has criticised the Eagles after they “overpriced” him previously.

Zaha recently admitted that he is open to a fresh challenge away from his boyhood club as he considers his options.

And among those options could be Tottenham and Everton, with Goal reporting that both sides are keen on signing the 28-year-old winger this summer in a potential £40m deal.

Everton’s interest dates back to 2019, where they reportedly had more than one offer turned down for Zaha, so it is no surprise that the Toffees are one of the clubs currently sniffing around the Ivorian.

On what the future could hold for Zaha, Palmer told TIF in an exclusive interview:

“The last transfer window they overpriced him when they were asking for 50 million for him. It will come to a point where he’ll want to go on and want to test his ability at a top club and I believe he should do. He’s ambitious enough and that’s what you’ve got to do.

You’ve got to have that ambition. Every player, every manager wants to play in the Premier League and wants to be at the top club. Not everybody can be, but that should be your ultimate desire if you want to be the best that you want to be.”

No one could blame Zaha for wanting to leave, with the Ivory Coast international probably wanting another crack at the elite level after struggling at Manchester United, perhaps feeling he has a point to prove.
