Tottenham should have replaced former playmaker Christian Eriksen by now, says Sky Sports journalist Michael Bridge.
Eriksen left Tottenham for Inter Milan in 2020, going on to help the Italian giants win Serie A last season.
The north London club are hardly lacking attacking options, however, with manager Nuno Espirito Santo having the likes of Son Heung-min and Lucas Moura to call upon.
Do Tottenham need to replace Eriksen?
Yes
No
What they are perhaps lacking, though, is a No.10 in Eriksen’s mould or a creative midfielder specifically, someone who can make something happen out of nothing, which is what Bridge has alluded to and something Fabio Paratici failed to address during the summer.
The Sky Sports reporter told TIF:
“I’m a huge, huge, huge fan of Eriksen. I do believe Spurs could have replaced him by now.”
Dele Alli looks to be in the equation at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium again, playing the full 90 minutes in each of Nuno’s first three Premier League fixtures in charge, so perhaps he could help out in that department.
Going forward, though, Spurs may need to eventually dip into the transfer market to sign that quality playmaker in order to improve. A lot, of course, may depend on the form of the likes of Alli and Moura and the system Nuno decides to stick with.
