Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge has predicted that Manchester United will end up signing Erling Haaland next summer.
Since moving to Borussia Dortmund just under 18 months ago, the 21-year-old has quickly proved himself as one of the best strikers in the world following some incredible goalscoring numbers in recent years.
Do you expect Man Utd to make another major signing?
Yes
No
According to Sky Sports, Haaland was Chelsea’s number one target this window, but Thomas Tuchel’s men ended up re-signing Romelu Lukaku instead.
Neither Manchester City, who’re desperately trying to sign Harry Kane, or United have been able to bring in a striker this window, meaning the Norweigan remains a Dortmund player – and has continued his blistering goalscoring exploits in the early parts of this season.
However, Haaland would cost far more than the £70m release clause that can be activated by clubs this summer – with a move away from Signal Iduna Park more likely in 12 months time.
And Bridge told This is Futbol that United, who’ve already bought in Haaland’s former Dortmund teammate Jadon Sancho, could secure another massive signing in 2021:
“There could be an interesting bidding war next year, but I personally think he’ll go to Manchester United.
“It depends on the relationship between the agent and the club, but there’s a lot of elements to that.”
