Tottenham Hotspur legend Graham Roberts insists that Ryan Sessegnon simply hasn’t developed as a player since joining the club from Fulham.
The versatile star, who can play as a left-back and as a winger, has struggled for minutes since joining the club and spent last season out on loan at Bundesliga side Hoffenheim.
In total, the 21-year-old has made 14 appearances for Spurs since his move in 2019.
Does Sessegnon have a future at Spurs?
Yes
No
He played 29 times for Hoffenheim, scoring twice and registering three assists, but Roberts has not been sold on the player, and believes he takes the easy option too often.
Under Nuno Espirito Santo, Sessegnon has made two appearances, playing in both legs of the Europa Conference League play-off against Pacos de Ferreira, which Spurs won 3-1 on aggregate.
He has been on the bench for the last two Premier League games, against Wolves and Watford, but Roberts insists he has not grown since his move from Craven Cottage.
He told This Is Futbol: “For me, Sessegnon has never been the same player since when he was at Fulham.
“He’s come to us, he’s been out on loan, did okay at Hoffenheim, but when he plays for us, instead of taking people on, he plays the easy ball, he gives it to somebody.”
