A lot of Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to hail goalkeeper Illan Meslier following a tweet on the Leeds United Stat Zone account.
United signed Meslier from the French side Lorient last summer in a deal which is believed to be worth in the region of £5m following a season on loan at the Yorkshire side.
The 21-year-old goalkeeper has made 28 appearances for Marcelo Bielsa in the Premier League alone this season and has kept nine clean sheets in those games (via Transfermarkt).
The tweet compared the Frenchman to Aaron Ramsdale ahead of the weekend’s clash against Sheffield United at Elland Road.
In response, the Leeds faithful flocked to the tweet to hail their 21-year-old goalkeeper for his work as the club sit just two points behind 10th-placed Aston Villa with just nine games remaining of their season.
“Like comparing a lion to a cub”
Do you think Leeds will be able to keep Meslier this summer?
Yes
No
Meslier, who is now valued at £15.3 million (as per Transfermarkt), was selected for the French U21 side to play in their international break over the last week, however, he remained an unused substitute in all three of their games.
All in all, it is apparent the 21-year-old has made a great impression on the Leeds fans despite only having been at the club for not even two full seasons.
