In an exclusive interview with This is Futbol, Tottenham Hotspur legend, Graham Roberts, believes Julian Nagelsmann will be Spurs’ number one target to replace the recently sacked Jose Mourinho.
Nagelsmann has been linked with the vacant Spurs job but Daniel Levy would have to try and lure him away from RB Leipzig, who beat Tottenham in the round of 16 during last seasons Champions League in which the Bundesliga side made the semi-finals.
Who should Spurs appoint as manager?
Rodgers!
Nagelsmann!
Mourinho was sacked just days before the club’s Carabao Cup final against Manchester City and Levy has put Ryan Mason, who is just 29-years old, in charge until the end of the season.
Speaking on how Nagelsmann will be Spurs number one choice and who else they could be targeting to replace Mourinho, Roberts told TIF:
“Nagelsmann is at a club currently with six or eight games left so he’s not going to upset them.
“‘I’m sure behind the scenes there has been talks going on. So I would say Nagelsmann is the favourite, but I would also say Brendan Rodgers will be in there.”
Mason won his first game as manager with Spurs coming from behind to win 2-1 at home to Southampton, despite Harry Kane not playing.
Mourinho lasted just 17 months in the job and despite failing to win a trophy, he insists that he doesn’t need a break from managing.
