On the lookout for a striker following Arkadiusz Milik’s long-term injury, Newcastle United’s Aleksandar Mitrovic has ruled out a January transfer window switch to Napoli, report ClubCall.
The former Anderlecht striker has recently been linked with a £20 million winter switch to Stadio San Paolo amidst improved form for both club and country this term.
Scoring against Wales for Serbia in the recent international break, Mitrovic has also been impressive for Rafael Benitez’s Magpies lately and the 22-year-old has now moved to reassure Newcastle United fans over his future.
Mitrovic claimed: “It is always nice when big clubs are interested in you, but I am at Newcastle and I want to return to the Premier League.
A pretty defiant statement from a player who is a fan favourite at St. James’ Park while admirably biding his time to make an impression following Dwight Gayle’s prolific exploits in front of goal this term.
As for Napoli’s hunt for new striking reinforcements, it would appear Maurizio Sarri’s side may now have to pursue a deal for West Ham United loanee Simone Zaza following this Mitrovic snub.
