Currently enjoying a season-long loan spell at Saint-Etienne, Aston Villa loanee Jordan Veretout is hoping for a permanent switch to the Ligue 1 side next season, report HITC.
Making 25 appearances for a Villans side that was relegated from the Premier League last season, 23-year-old Veretout has already claimed Les Verts want him to stay at Stade Geoffroy-Guichard.
Speaking to French outlet Foot01, Veretout claimed: “I belong to Saint-Etienne this year. I will do everything to make the best season. Then we will see what will happen later in the season.
An £8 million arrival from Nantes in July 2015, Veretout is still a young player with bags of potential and HITC’s report claims that Steve Bruce’s Villans will be holding out to recoup a similar fee to what they paid for the Frenchman.
With Steve Bruce set to put his own stamp on the Villa squad he inherited from Roberto Di Matteo, the best solution all round appears to be allowing Veretout a permanent transfer to Saint-Etienne next season.
