Signed by Roberto Di Matteo in the summer, Aston Villa goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini is being lined up by Juventus as a shock potential successor to Gianluigi Buffon, report CalcioNews24.
The Italian source claims the 21-year-old is on the Bianconeri’s radar with 38-year-old Buffon now in the twilight of his extensive, successful career.
Despite still being the Aston Villa number one under Steve Bruce who succeeded Di Matteo last month, rumours are rife that Villa are plotting a goalkeeping swoop of their own in the January transfer window.
The Villans have been linked with both Hull City’s Eldin Jakupovic and Manchester United’s Sam Johnstone in recent weeks and this serves to suggest that Bruce isn’t overly convinced with Gollini’s talents.
CalcioNews24’s report also claims that Juventus were trailing Gollini in the summer but it was of course Aston Villa who were able to tempt the Italian Under-21 international with immediate first team football.
