Lee Ryder has been speaking on the latest edition of the Everything is Black & White podcast about all things relating to Newcastle United after they drew 1-1 with Wolverhampton Wanderers.
One of the topics that Ryder spent a bit of time on was Miguel Almiron’s injury that forced him to be withdrawn from the match at half time and replaced by Ryan Fraser.
Fraser then provided the assist for Jamaal Lascelles’ header with a fantastic cross, but Almiron is the Toon’s second-top goalscorer and has been in good form in recent weeks.
Steve Bruce claimed after the match that it didn’t look good for the 27-year-old, and Ryder provided his view on the situation.
He said: (2:48) “We don’t know exactly what the problem is. All we know is he was in distress at half time, and from his point of view, he doesn’t normally come off [in] games, does he really.
“He normally stays on, battles on; he didn’t do that today [Saturday].
“Steve Bruce [was] saying he fears the worst, but we are yet to get more details from it; it’s very much a developing story.”
Do you think Newcastle will miss Almiron?
Yes, we need him
No, we will be fine
TIF Thoughts on Almiron’s injury…
Since Almiron has been moved into his natural attacking midfield role, he has been contributing much better performances, and if this injury is serious, then you would think the Toon would miss him.
Couple his injury with Allan Saint-Maximin’s and the continued absence of Callum Wilson, then Newcastle have a problem.
We hope for their sake that this injury to Almiron is not that bad, and he can return to help his side, who sit in 17th three points clear of Fulham in 18th.
