Celtic fans have been reacting to former Scotland manager Craig Brown suggesting Steve Clarke should replace Neil Lennon in the Parkhead dugout.

Former Scotland boss Brown told The Scottish Sun that his successor in the national hotseat was ‘tailor-made’ to become the club’s next manager.

It’s been a torrid campaign for the reigning Scottish champions. It was meant to be a historic season where the Hoops claimed their tenth league title in a row, but several underwhelming displays have left the Glasgow giants 15 points behind their Old Firm rivals.

That led to Lennon resigning from his position as head coach last week, leaving assistant manager John Kennedy in interim charge of the first team.

Current Scotland manager and former Kilmarnock boss Clarke has established a solid reputation for himself in his homeland after guiding the Tartan Army to their first international tournament in over 20 years. However, that hasn’t been enough to convince many Celtic fans that he’s worthy of overseeing their recovery.

“No way.”

@DurtyRotter

“Your havin a laugh, how’s he even qualified for the job, no thx”

@Kerrygold63

“Not for me”

@Henriklubo

“Did he leave his thoughts on voicemail?”

“Dinosaur tips dinosaur, who’d have thought”

Clarke may have restored his reputation as a top-quality manager during his time with Kilmarnock and the Scottish national team, but his style still leaves some question marks hanging over his head. The 57-year-old tends to favour a safety-first approach, which evidently doesn’t appeal to many Celtic supporters.
