Journalist Peter O’Rourke has provided an update on Liverpool target Yves Bissouma following some developments at current club Brighton and Hove Albion.
The Malian international has been one of the brighter sparks for Graham Potter’s men this season, with a WhoScored rating of 6.98 good enough to place him only behind Solly March out of all the Seagulls this season.
A recent report from The Times claimed that the Malian midfielder had submitted a transfer request amidst interest from the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal as he looks to take the next step in his career.
And it looks as if that request has been accepted, because speaking on the latest edition of Touchline Talk (18:28), O’Rourke revealed that the club would be open to selling him this summer if they could get someone to offer them the right price and it came from the right club for Bissouma to move on to:
“From what I’m hearing, Brighton would consider offers for him. They think he’s done enough for them and if they could get maybe £40m for him this summer they think that would represent a good deal for them to move him on as well and not stand in his way to possibly move to a bigger club.
“From what I’m also hearing is that Bissouma wants to join a club that’s maybe playing in Europe, ideally Champions League, if not, there’ll be somebody in Europa League. Liverpool have watched him quite a bit as well this season as a potential replacement for Gini Wijnaldum.”

TIF Thoughts on Peter O’Rourke’s comments about Yves Bissouma to Liverpool
If this season has shown us anything for Liverpool with the centre-back crisis, it’s that strength in depth is critical, especially if they want to compete on multiple fronts again.
And whilst Liverpool will have a number of central midfielders already at their disposal next season, adding one more won’t do too much harm if it will allow them to properly manage and rotate the squad, both to prevent fatigue and to offer cover in case there is another injury scare.
And his talent would certainly be a welcome addition to Jürgen Klopp’s artillery ahead of their next campaign.
