According to reports from The Telegraph, Leicester City have slapped star striker Jamie Vardy with a £30million price-tag to fend off interest from Chelsea and Manchester United.
The 28-year-old is currently leading the English top flight’s goal charts with 13 in 13 outings and will break a Premier League record of scoring in eleven consecutive fixtures if he finds the net against the Red Devils in today’s 5.30pm kickoff.
That has seen the former non-league become a recurring fixture in Roy Hodgson’s plans for the England national team and attract interest from some of the Premier League’s top clubs – namely Chelsea and Manchester United – ahead of the January transfer window.
The Blues are concerned with Diego Costa’s sudden decline and will spend the next few weeks deliberating whether they should sign another centre-forward in January, with Vardy one of the options on their radar.
Likewise, United have struggled to find dependable firepower this season, with strike-force Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial bagging just five Premier League goals combined before this weekend’s round of fixtures, and manager Louis van Gaal failed to rule out a move for the former Fleetwood Town man earlier this week.
But according to The Telegraph, Leicester City will only sell in the coming transfer window if a suitor meets their £30million valuation. That may seem steep considering Vardy will turn 29 in January, but the Foxes view it as a fair price for a home-grown goal-scorer in top form who has low wage demands and isn’t cup-tied in the Champions League.
