According to reports from TuttoSport via Football Italia, Chelsea and Manchester United have joined the race to sign Swiss strike prodigy Breel Embolo.
The 6 foot 1 striker is just 18 years of age but has already notched up 24 goals in 67 appearances for FC Basel, helping fire them to last season’s domestic title with ten strikes in 26 Super League outings.
The Cameroon-born teenager has also represented Switzerland at senior level on seven occasions since his debut in March and plenty of Premier League clubs have taken note of his emphatic rise.
Last week, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur were reported to be scrapping over the £21million-rated frontman ahead of the January transfer window, but Football Italia claim Chelsea, Manchester United and Serie A champions Juventus are firmly in the mix as well.
Chelsea and Manchester United are both believed to be on the lookout for added firepower. Diego Costa’s future at Stamford Bridge is in serious doubt after scoring just four times across all competitions and finding himself on the bench for the Blues’ visit to White Hart Lane on Saturday, whilst United’s strikeforce of Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial have found just five Premier League goals between them this season.
