Liverpool journalist James Pearce has relayed a triple injury update from Reds manager Jurgen Klopp ahead of their upcoming Premier League game against Wolves.
The Merseyside club currently have a number of players out of action through injuries including the likes of Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz and Virgil van Dijk.
This weekend sees the Reds return to Premier League action with an away clash against Wolves after getting knocked out of the FA Cup last weekend by Brighton & Hove Albion.
Looking ahead to Saturday’s showdown at Molineux, some details have emerged regarding the fitness status of three of Liverpool’s injured players.
In a recent Twitter post, Pearce had this to say on the injury situation, relaying comments from Klopp in his latest press conference.
He said: “Klopp says Jota back in full training next week. #LFC [Roberto] Firmino and VVD “getting closer”. VVD could be back in full training next week too.”
While the trio look set to miss the trip to Wolves, the fact that they are getting closer to returning to training will surely be a big positive for everyone at the club.
Are you confident Liverpool will beat Wolves?
Yes
No
With Van Dijk being out with a hamstring injury, the Reds have only been able to win one of the five games he’s missed as a result, conceding seven goals in the process, which shows how important he is to the team and how significant his absence has been.
Then with Jota and Firmino having a combined total of seven goals and four assists between them in the league this season, having those two back available will surely be a relief for Klopp and give him extra attacking options to rely on.
Moving forward, if the Anfield outfit can secure a positive result against Wolves and then see these three players return to training next week, this will definitely give everyone at the club a big boost and a positive outlook towards their next fixtures.
