Newcastle United reportedly have their eyes on landing a January transfer deal for Hakim Ziyech as well as Anthony Gordon.
After scoring 49 goals and delivering 81 assists in 165 appearances for Ajax, the 29-year-old joined Chelsea back in the 2020 summer transfer window.
Since then, the Morocco international has made 98 appearances for the west London club across all competitions, scoring 14 goals and supplying 11 assists along the way.
According to a recent report from The Telegraph, as well as being confident about landing a deal for the Everton winger this month, the Toon also have an interest in signing Ziyech.
The report also adds that while the Moroccan would be a cheaper option to Gordon, members of Newcastle’s recruitment staff would be happy to see Ziyech join on loan but have an option to sign him permanently in the summer.
Described as having a “wand of a left foot” by Rob Green, the £100k-per-week midfielder may have only started four of the 10 Premier League games he’s appeared in this season, the 29-year-old has still managed to show how much of a creative figure he is.
Who would you rather have at Newcastle?
Hakim Ziyech
Anthony Gordon
Specifically, with 20 shot-creating actions to his name, the midfielder has the highest rate of shot-creating actions per 90 minutes (4.21) at Chelsea out of players that were at the club at the start of the season.
Bearing in mind how Newcastle have the joint-highest number of draws (9) in the league this season, adding someone like Ziyech to their squad that can pull the strings and create goalscoring opportunities for his teammates could be just what Eddie Howe needs in his side to see them win more games.
With all of that in mind, if the Magpies can work out a deal for the Chelsea figure this month, whether it be a permanent move or on loan, this would surely be an exciting signing for the Tyneside club.
