Liverpool have had a rather rough Premier League campaign so far, as the Reds currently find themselves in ninth place with 19 games played.
Across those 19 league matches, Jurgen Klopp’s side have won eight, drawn five and lost six, leaving them with 29 points on the board, 21 behind league leaders Arsenal.
One player in Klopp’s ranks that has not had a particularly impressive campaign so far is Fabinho, who was recently slammed by journalist Jordan Elgott for a “shocking” challenge he made on Brighton & Hove Albion player Evan Ferguson during Liverpool’s recent FA Cup defeat.
With 18 league games to his name, the Brazilian has not only been dribbled past on more occasions (17) than any other Liverpool player, his overall performances have earned him a rather disappointing season rating of from 6.63/10 from WhoScored, leaving 10 other players at the club with higher ratings.
Should the Merseyside club look to get rid of the midfielder in the next summer transfer window due to his notable drop in form, one player that the Reds have been linked with that we feel would be an impressive replacement is Declan Rice.
With 187 Premier League appearances under his belt for West Ham United, this significant amount of experience would make it easier for the 24-year-old to settle in at Liverpool on the pitch.
Would you take Declan Rice at Liverpool?
Yes
No
His efforts for the Hammers this season have seen the England international show how much of a capable midfielder he is.
For example, having played every minute of league action, Rice has the highest average of interceptions per game (1.6) and second-highest for tackles per game (2.3) at West Ham.
In addition to that, he also has the joint-third highest average of key passes per game (1.3) at the east London club.
Hailed as a “phenomenal” player by journalist Tom Clark, Rice’s overall performances have earned him a season rating of 6.94/10 from WhoScored, making him the highest-rated player at West Ham.
Taking all of this into account, if Liverpool do decide to move Fabinho out of the club in the summer, securing a deal for the Hammers star should be one of their top priorities.
