Freelance football writer Alison McConnell has stated that she was impressed with the ‘personality’ shown by Nathan Patterson in Scotland’s recent international match.
The Rangers defender lined up for his country as they recorded a memorable 3-2 win over Israel in their most recent World Cup qualifying match.
First-half goals from Eran Zahavi and Munas Dabbur had seen Steve Clarke’s men trail twice in the game, but goals from John McGinn, Lyndon Dykes and Scott McTominay helped rescue all three points for the home side.
While discussing the game on PLZ Soccer’s The Football Show, McConnell said that she felt Patterson put in an ‘inauspicious’ performance in the first half, but recovered well later in the game.
She explained: “I think that says quite a lot about him, I think it says quite a lot about his personality to come back from that.
“I think it was a fairly inauspicious start to the game, so to recover and find your composure again, I think augurs well for him.
“I think he’ll be pleased with the second half, I thought he came to the fore, I thought he played well.”
TIF Thoughts on Nathan Patterson and Rangers…
As they look to defend their title win of last season, Rangers have made a good start to the new campaign. As a result, they currently sit top of the Scottish Premier League table on 19 points after 8 games.
Patterson has not yet managed to play a key role in much of that. However, he did play the full 90 and claim an assist in their most recent match – a 2-1 win over Hibernian.
Will Nathan Patterson be a star for Rangers?
Yes
No
Having now made four appearances for his nation, and at such a young age too, the 19-year-old will be hoping to kick on with more impressive outings for club and country in the coming months, and it seems as though his performances to date are hitting the right notes.
