Many Newcastle United fans have been sharing their thoughts on £13.05m-rated Toon midfielder Jonjo Shelvey’s performance in the north-east club’s 1-1 Premier League draw with Fulham on Saturday evening.
The former Liverpool man played the entirety of this game in the centre of Newcastle’s midfield. In its post-match report on this clash between two of the Premier League’s bottom-half sides, Eurosport gave Shelvey a 6/10 rating for his performance versus Fulham. Out of Newcastle’s squad, only Karl Darlow and DeAndre Yedlin received a higher match rating than the midfielder.
However, many fans of Newcastle were far more critical of Shelvey and his performance versus Fulham on Twitter.
So, what have these Newcastle United fans been saying about Jonjo Shelvey’s performance versus Fulham?
Plenty of Toon supporters slated the quality that the 28-year-old Englishman brought to Newcastle’s midfield, while some other Toon fans indicated that they were disappointed by Shelvey’s work-rate.
And yet no urgency at all – shelvey walking around on half way line !

Shelvey is so lazy.

Staggering lack of urgency from us to actually try to go and win this game. The speed of Shelvey and Longstaff in the middle with the ball is absolutely brutal.

I must of been watching a completely different game as thought Shelvey was Absolutley hopeless ! .. slow and lethargic !

Shelvey and Longstaff were brutal today, almost speechless as to how bad they were, shocking. #NUFC.

The @ChronicleNUFC is keen on this, so I’ll get there 1st.
5 things we learned:
1. If anything, Ritchie is now a full back.
2. Fraser should play.
3. Joelinton shouldn’t. Ever.
4. We need a proper No. 10 & a box-2-box midfielder.
5. Shelvey’s time is up – passenger.#NUFC— Chris W (@Chris_Fac213) December 19, 2020
Shelvey is one of the worst players ever to play for us!! He is slower than Big Bob!! Dreadful player

Was Shelvey Newcastle's worst player versus Fulham?
YES
NO
All in all, it seems as though Shelvey failed to endear himself to many fans of the north-east club with his performance in Saturday evening’s draw with the Cottagers.
