It was a convincing 3-0 win this weekend as Steven Gerrard’s Rangers waltzed past Hearts in the Scottish League Cup semi-final. A first-half goal from Filip Helander gave the Gers an early lead. This was followed by an Alfredo Morelos brace that sealed the deal.
The significance of the victory can not be overstated. It is the first time Rangers have made it to the Scottish League Cup final since winning the competition back in the 2010/2011 season. While the job is not done, Rangers fans were understandably excited with the result.

Even the players got in on the celebrations. Joe Aribo, Sheyi Ojo and captain James Tavernier all expressed their excitement over the victory. El Buffalo even took to social media, tweeting out in his native tongue. His message roughly translates to “Nice victory, let’s go for more!”

One fan wasn’t quite ready to celebrate, reminding fans that this victory means nothing if they go on and lose in the final.

What do we think?
A final against Celtic won’t be easy, but the reactions from Rangers fans and players alike showcase a desire to win from all members of the club. In a game against their fierce rivals, Rangers will need to maintain that attitude, as an Old Firm match won’t be won on talent alone.
