Liverpool fans were treated to a photo of the club’s seven Ballon d’Or nominees this week but many fans were focused on midfielder Fabinho’s lack of a nomination.
The Brazillian midfielder has been superb since signing from Monaco in May 2018 and has helped Jurgen Klopp’s side to consecutive Champions League finals since joining. The 26-year-old has made 58 appearances in his time with the Reds and scored his second goal for the club in Sunday’s 3-1 win over Manchester City.
After the club posted a picture of the club’s seven nominees, who included; Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, Alisson, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Roberto Firmino and Georginio Wijnaldum – a lot of Reds fans bemoaned the former Monaco man’s absence.
Fabinho has averaged a 7.09 rating so far this season, so fans will be hoping that his performances now lead to a nomination for next year’s award.
Reaction from Reds fans to Fabinho’s lack of nomination can be seen in the tweets below.

Reds fans are certain that Fabinho should have been nominated and will be hoping to see the 26-year-old feature next season.
What do we think?
Fabinho’s stats from last season don’t really suggest he deserves a place on the list, registering just one Man of the Match performance and an overall lower rating in the Champions League and the Premier League in comparison to this season, but his performances this season have certainly caught the eye of many supporters.
Recent performances have turned the Brazilian into one of Liverpool’s most important players, so if both Liverpool and Fabinho continue to impress it would be a real shock to see him miss out on a nomination in the future.
