Fans have become accustomed to seeing Divock Origi scoring crucial late goals on the big stage, and last night, with Liverpool needing to come back from behind, the Belgian forward delivered once again.
The 24-year-old was instrumental in forcing a penalty shootout, scoring two equalising goals – one being an overhead kick – to take the game beyond the allotted 90 mins. Origi’s late cameo reminded some fans of his knack of scoring goals at important times, such as his match-winning strikes in the Champions League semi-final against Barcelona, and his subsequent late finish to seal victory in the final of last year’s competition.
This uncanny ability to pop-up with vital goals in testing circumstances, got many Liverpool fans talking in the immediate aftermath:
•Winner against Everton
•Winner against Newcastle
•Brace (including the winner) against Barca
•Confirming the win against Spurs
•Brace (including the equaliser) against ArsenalThe man for the big occasion. Ice running through his veins.pic.twitter.com/T4uPpLyMsO

One fan even described Origi as the modern day David Fairclough. The now 62-year-old produced 44 goals in 133 appearances for the Reds, with seven of his goals coming in Europe. Indeed, perhaps the comparison has been drawn due to the sheer amount of goals the former Reds man managed to produce off the substitutes’ bench.

What we think
Origi only seems to come alive in big moments and in times of adversity for his club. Having said that, it certainly isn’t a bad habit to have. The trick for the Belgian international is to now find some consistency, as the talent is clearly there for all to see. However, that won’t stop fans from enjoying his match-winning, clutch performances.
