One player that came in for some criticism after Wednesday night’s victory for the Reds was 19-year-old striker Rhian Brewster.
Brewster was playing in his second-ever senior Liverpool game, after making his debut against MK Dons in the third round of the Carabao Cup. Indeed, the striker was gifted a 7/10 rating by the Liverpool Echo for his performance against the Gunners last night, but it doesn’t appear as if fans share the same view.
Interestingly, some fans thought that his display on Wednesday night was somewhat underwhelming:
Brewster has been…..meh

One fan even stated that former Liverpool man Dominic Solanke, who scored just one goal in 27 appearances for the Reds, is better than Brewster.
IMO Solanke is better than Him

What we think
Wednesday night’s performance may not have been Brewster’s best, but the negative reactions do seem slightly overboard, given that the 19-year-old is only playing in his second-ever first-team game. Playing against Arsenal is a huge step up in quality compared to the level he is accustomed to, particularly so after a long-term injury layoff.
The England youth international has scored 20 goals in 44 games in the youth ranks, and Under-17 World Cup Golden boot awards also aren’t exactly easy to come by. What Brewster does from here is up to him, but in our opinion, the youngster is anything but overhyped – patience will be required.
