A number of Celtic fans have reacted online in light of Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph’s recent post about Bernard Higgins.
After learning of the rumoured appointment of Higgins to a senior security role at Celtic, the Bhoys faithful were less than pleased to see him associated with a position within their club.
Over the weekend, during a Scottish Premier League game against Motherwell, they decided to protest against the board, with the Green Brigade and other fans’ groups opting to be far less vocal with their support.
Higgins is an unpopular figure in Scotland because of the role he played in the repealed Offensive Behaviour at Football Act – which many believe unfairly targeted football fans.

Joseph sent a tweet out saying that after the recent protests: “Celtic need to engage with the fans at the very least.” He added: “The connection between the fans & players/manager is growing every week. But there still appears to be a disconnect from the top. It doesn’t have to be this way.”
Here’s what these Celtic fans said…
“Board need to engage with fans. Period. Not just in this. We never hear from them, it’s appalling leadership.”
It’s not hard to figure out just how unhappy these fans are with the board and their apparent inability to engage clearly with the bulk of the Celtic support.
It certainly seems that if the board were to ignore their own fans and appoint Higgins to a senior security role, there would be much outcry, which could lead to some difficult and tense times for the club.
