According to reports from The Daily Mail, Shaktar Donetsk star Alex Teixeira has claimed Chelsea are interested in signing him and could launch a bid during the January transfer window.
The uncapped Brazilian moved to the Donbass Arena in 2009 and has since produced a return of 80 goals in 215 appearances for the Ukrainian outfit, helping fire them to five consecutive league titles.
But the 25 year-old has really upped his game this season, netting 16 times in just eleven league outings – which equates to one goal every 62 to minutes – to produce a better haul than Bayern Munich’s in-form front-man Robert Lewandowski.
Chelsea have been linked with a number of attacking players in recent weeks, such as Ukrainian duo Andriy Yarmolenko and Yevhen Konoplyanka, with under fire manager Jose Mourinho seemingly unhappy with his current options. Favoured prodigy Oscar and PFA Player of the Year winner Eden Hazard have both been dropped in recent weeks.
And according to The Daily Mail, the Blues could now turn to Teixeira in January, who is known to be pushing for a move away from Shaktar.
The South American has told reports in Ukraine; “I have an offer. It was a pleasure to know that Chelsea wants to sign me. It would be great if the transfer already happens in January.”
