According to reports from The Express, Chelsea and Manchester United have held talks with the agent of Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos.
The German international, who lifted the World Cup with Die Mannschaft in summer 2014, has registered 77 appearances for Real Madrid since making the switch from Bayern Munich 18 months ago – where he’d previously won three Bundesliga titles and the 2013 Champions League title.

But the playmaking midfielder is said to be considering his future at the Bernabeu after finding himself dropped by former manager Rafa Benitez prior to La Liga’s winter break.
Citing Spanish publication Fichajes, The Express claim the Premier League duo have contacted the 26-year-old’s agent and proposed contracts worth in excess of £4.5million per year. They’re also reportedly preparing £40million bids in the hope of convincing Los Blancos to sell.
However, the recent change in management in the Spanish capital could stub out any chance of a move to England. Fichajes allege the appointment of Zinedine Zidane has ‘considerably decreased’ the likelihood of Kroos leaving the La Liga giants.
