Transfer News: West Ham ready to hijack Everton’s accepted £3m bid for Championship prodigy

Sam Byram

According to reports from The Express, West Ham are hoping to hijack Everton’s £3million deal for Leeds United youngster Sam Byram.

The 22-year-old is widely regarded as one of the Championship’s most exciting prospects, having already registered 142 appearances for the Yorkshire outfit, and is equally comfortable at right-back or right midfield.

Having refused to extend his Elland Road contract past the end of the season, the Whites are set to sell the Essex-born prodigy this month and reportedly accepted a £3million bid from Everton yesterday evening.

The Toffees are believed to be discussing personal terms with Byram but according to The Express, Premier League rivals West Ham are looking to hijack the deal at the final hour.

The Hammers have reportedly offered cash plus two unnamed players and hope the promise of a starting role will lure Byram to East London instead. Resident No.2 Carl Jenkinson has struggled for consistency this season and will return to parent club Arsenal in the summer.

Aston Villa have also launched a bid, but their currently league standing of 20th is likely to deter the youngster from a move to Villa Park.
