Journalist, Craig Hope told his YouTube channel that he was wowed by the ‘additional presence’ of Newcastle United’s board on their mid-season trip to Saudi Arabia.
The club jetted off to the country on Sunday and will then head back home a week later.
There’s a real feel-good factor surrounding the club at the moment. Newcastle sit third in the Premier League and boast the joint-best defensive record, alongside Arsenal.
It’s all for there to see, St. James’ Park has been absolutely raucous on match days. With the fans behind them, it’s no wonder that the team spirit within the club is sky-high.
Hope said (4:00): “Last night [Tuesday] what did strike me was just the presence of so many additional staff as well, marketing, commercial, Peter Silverstone was there, Darren Eals they were coming and going.
“The foyer was almost boardroom in many ways, there was that many different many different meanings going on.”
TIF’s view on Hope’s comments…
We believe that the fact that a number of the board members travelled with the club to Saudi Arabia shows unity in the club. Not just the players and the fans, but the employees that work for Newcastle United, as well.
In July of this year, Darren Eals was announced as the club’s Chief Executive Officer, who previously worked for Atlanta United as President and Chief Executive. Peter Silverstone was appointed as the Magpies’ Chief Commercial Officer, he worked for Arsenal as Chief Commerical Officer in the past.
Clearly, the Newcastle owners wanted to bring in new board members who have plenty of experience. Judging by both of their previous work histories, they certainly have that.
Should the Magpies finish in the top four this season, it would be a massive achievement. This time last year, the club were 19th in the league, it’s a real testament to the job the new owners and Eddie Howe have done in the last 12 months.
