Journalist Carlo Garganese has claimed that AC Milan superstar winger Rafael Leao is attracting interest from a number of European heavyweights.
The Portuguese winger, who recently scored on his World Cup debut for his country, has been in stunning form this season with seven goals and nine assists in 20 matches for the Rossoneri.
Garganese claimed that with his contract running out in 2024, the 23-year-old is attracting strong interest from some of Europe’s biggest names.
He told GiveMeSport: “Leão’s contract runs out in 2024. Chelsea, they’re still in touch, they’re one of the main clubs, but they’re not the only club that are interested in him.
“Real Madrid are also interested in him as well.”
TIF Thoughts on Rafael Leao…
One of the brightest young talents in Europe right now, Leao is already a Serie A winner with Milan and is clearly destined for a great future.
However, one wrong transfer can destroy a promising career as quickly as it started, and the attacker will have to choose his next destination carefully.
Of the clubs Garganese mentions, game time would be arguably more guaranteed at Chelsea, with Vinicius Junior currently occupying the role he would play at Real Madrid – although staying at the San Siro until at least the end of the season could be the smartest move.
He will have just one year remaining on his contract and there will be no shortage of interest from Europe’s top clubs judging by the current reported interest in him. If he then wants to seek out a new challenge, Milan could still attract a hefty fee and he would have his pick of clubs.
