Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has lauded Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham and hinted at transfer interest from his side.
The England star is coveted by some of Europe’s biggest clubs, with reports suggesting that Premier League clubs are also in the race, but it now seems that PSG could throw their hat in the ring for the teenager.
Speaking to Sky Sports during the World Cup, Al-Khelaifi praised the 19-year-old – who has been in outstanding form for his country in Qatar – and claimed that everyone loves him.
He said: “Amazing player, what a player. Honestly, England are lucky to have him, to be honest. He’s one of the best players in the tournament.
“You see how it’s his first World Cup, how calm and relaxed and confident [he is], it’s amazing.
When asked if his recruitment team were going to look at Bellingham, he hinted that PSG could be interested.
He added: “Listen, everybody wants him, that’s true, I’m not going to hide it, but I respect he’s in his club, and if we want to talk to him, we will talk to the club.”
TIF Thoughts on Bellingham and PSG…
Although the Parisians always have a large transfer budget, a move for Bellingham looks way off.
Reports suggest Liverpool and Real Madrid seem to be the two clubs most likely to sign the midfielder, and he even plays in a position where PSG are well-stocked at present.
The arrivals of Carlos Soler, Fabian Ruiz, Vitinha and Renato Sanches in the summer means that they have plenty of options in the middle of the park, so Christophe Galtier may not prioritise signing another one despite Bellingham’s outstanding quality.
Given his close links within the England squad to the likes of Jordan Henderson, it is hard to imagine the former Birmingham City starlet turning down Liverpool in favour of a move to Paris.
