Midfielder Hughes, 18, played 38 times for Derby County in his debut season scoring twice. The youngster has impressed and has caught the eye of many big teams in the Premier League. Pardew is reported to be a big fan, but he’ll have to offer around £10 million for the England under 21 international.
Under 21s boss, Stuart Pearce described Hughes as “technically a very sound player. He rarely gave the ball away in training or in the game he played [against Northern Ireland], which is vitally important at international level. He’s progressing really well.” (Source: The BBC)
Will Hughes says he bases his play on Barcelona superstars, Xavi and Iniesta, listing his passing and technical ability as strengths.
Cover is also needed for Papiss Cisse, with Blackpool forward Thomas Ince, 21, and Roma’s Bojan, 22 thought to be targets.
Ince, son of Paul, has also been heavily linked with a return to Liverpool. The England under-21 international has scored 24 goals in 77 appearances since his move from Anfield in 2011.
Paul Ince, also Tom’s manager is keen to keep his son at the club despite growing interest from Liverpool, Spurs and Crystal Palace. Ince is set for talks with Blackpool following the Under-21 European Championships.
Bojan, a product of Barcelona, is another who Liverpool are competing for. The young Spaniard has also played for AC Milan and is currently at AS Roma, but has failed to really establish himself. Bojan will be wary about making the correct move to reignite his career.
All these deals are sure to come to some result before the summer ends but who will go where?
Do you think these three would be good signings for Newcastle or not?
