Champions of Germany, Bayern Munich announced on Tuesday that they had agreed a deal to bring in 20 year old midfielder Mario Götze.
The young German, dubbed the ‘German Messi’ has earned high acclaim after 3 consistent seasons in Bundesliga with Borussia Dortmund.
This season he has scored 10 goals in 28 games.
He has been linked with Arsenal and Manchester City all season, but Bayern Munich activated Götze’s release clause with a £30 million bid.
Competition for his position is high with Robben, Schweinsteiger, Shaqiri, Kroos, Muller and Ribery all in contention for his favoured position.
He will be Pep Guardiola’s first signing at the Bavarian side when he takes the helm in July. Although it is unlikely that he was involved in the negotiations.
Dortmund fans view the move as part of Bayern’s plan to disrupt their side from becoming too much of a danger to the 23 time Bundesliga winners.
Bayern Munich are on track to reach the Champions League final, following a comprehensive 4-0 1st leg win over Barcelona at the Allianz Arena. Bayern could ultimately face Götze’s Dortmund side in the Final, should they beat Real Madrid.
Bayern Munich are said to be lining up another couple of monster moves this summer, with ambitious plans to sign Gareth Bale, Neymar and Luis Suarez.
Will Götze be a good addition to an already high quality Bayern midfield or not?
