Several Tottenham Hotspur supporters have taken to Twitter to react to Jose Mourinho’s decision not to call on Gareth Bale to turn around their poor run of form.

Bale re-signed for Spurs on loan back in September 2020 as Spurs looked to bolster the Portuguese’s attacking options with extra firepower.

But it hasn’t quite been the season to remember for Bale. The Welshman has been restricted to just 11 appearances in all competitions for Mourinho’s side.

The 31-year-old was an unused substitute in their most recent match against Chelsea, where they fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat to the manager’s former side on Thursday evening.

With Harry Kane currently absent from the first-team with an ankle injury, some Spurs supporters have been rather surprised not to have seen Bale feature more recently in their last two matches, where Spurs have dropped more points.

Should Bale START vs West Brom?

They’re currently sat eighth in the Premier League table, and will be hoping they can return to winning ways when they return to action this weekend when they take on relegation-threatened West Brom.

Alasdair Gold, reporter for football.london, has assessed Mourinho’s decision not to use Bale more frequently this season in the Premier League on social media.

In his column, he claims that sources in the Spurs camp are currently split behind the scenes – some believe he’s very close to becoming that second-half of the season spark they need, whilst others think the loan deal has been a complete disaster.

And many supporters have been specifically discussing his claim on the ‘weird’ situation on social media.

“If Jose is that desperate for a number 10 surely Bale could step in temporarily. I know Bale’s preference is to play on the right and he hasn’t hit form yet, but Spurs’ attack can’t get any worse.”

“Pochettino’s problem at Spurs was not being able to sign players. Mourinho’s problem is still relying players that Poch was fielding.”

“It’s not really weird. I think if we were all honest it’s no real surprise bale has been so poor. He gave up wanting to be a footballer a while ago and it’s such a shame.”

A nice easy one to start off with, who is Tottenham's record signing?

“Gareth Bale gave up being a professional footballer about 3 years ago. For the good of his reputation he should retire at the end of the season and play his real love.. golf.”

“Bale not working, Mourinho not working; both key Levy decisions, maybe its time for a new Chairman?”

Whether Bale will be involved from the off very much remains to be seen but as evident above, plenty would love to see the former wing sensation given a proper run of matches to make an impact.

Even more so in the absence of Kane.
