Sunderland have a huge weekend ahead of them, with the chance to return to the Championship on Saturday at Wembley Stadium.
Ahead of the game against Wycombe Wanderers, former Sunderland striker Darren Bent has been speaking on TalkSport about the Wearside fans.
Will Sunderland's fans give them the advantage on Saturday?
Yes
No
Sunderland have already made a number of requests to have their allocation for their trip to Wembley increased, with a reported 40k+ expected to descend on the capital this weekend.
38-year-old Bent played 75 times for the Black Cats over the course of two seasons and was able to net 25 goals across all competitions (via Transfermarkt).
And speaking live on air, Bent recalled a chant the Sunderland fans had for him during his stint on Wearside which used to give him the chills.
He said: “To be fair, Sunderland had the best song for me. Incredible. It was something like: ‘Darren Bent is fast as lightning, Darren Bent is red and white. When he gets the ball, he scores a goal. He’s [expletive] dynamite.’ Obviously, there was a bleep in there.
“When I used to hear that, honestly, the hairs on the back of my neck used to stand up, make you want to run faster, jump higher – incredible.”
TIF Thoughts on Bent’s comments…
Bent’s comments probably just back up what we already know in Sunderland having one of the most passionate fanbases in the country.
In the first leg of their semi-final against Sheffield Wednesday, Wearsiders flocked to the Stadium of Light to almost pack out the ground with an attendance of just under 45k.
And we are sure they will be heading down to the big smoke this weekend in their droves and it is certainly a possibility their support could provide them with an advantage over the Chairboys.
