James Copley has been speaking on the Roar podcast about how he expects Aiden McGeady to be on the bench for Sunderland at Wembley.
The Black Cats will be hoping to right their wrongs of previous trips to Wembley on Saturday which has only ever yielded one win in the capital that was a 1-0 win over League Two side Tranmere Rovers in the Papa John’s Trophy.
Will Sunderland win on Saturday?
Yes!
No!
Sunderland will likely be seen as favourites for the match given the size of the club they and the fact they’ll have over 45,000 fans in attendance, however, Wycombe Wanderers were only in the Championship last season so it will be no easy match.
In what will likely be a tight game, as the last time they met it ended 3-3, individual magic could prove the difference, which could well come from McGeady, who Copley expects to make the bench.

McGeady has very often been a star for Sunderland pulling them out of sticky situations and was influential during their season when they were beaten in the play-off final against Charlton Athletic, even seeing his effort deflected in to give Sunderland an early lead on the day, but after injuries and lack of appearances this campaign, it seems like the curtain could be coming down on his time with Sunderland.
The winger is now 36-years old and has only been able to stay fit and feature in 14 games this season but none have come under Alex Neil, while he also wasn’t even on the bench for their semi-final second leg clash against Sheffield Wednesday, but on a big stage like Wembley, Neil may believe he could be the difference.
