Tottenham Hotspur journalist Alasdair Gold has claimed that Spurs could make a move for Mikkel Damsgaard in the upcoming summer transfer window.
The Danish international was one of the stars at last summer’s European Championships as he helped his side reach the semi-final of the competition, and that meant that there were a number of sides that wanted him, with a report from Italian outlet Calcio Mercato (via Yorkshire Evening Post) claiming that there were a number of Premier League sides that were looking at bagging his signature. Damsgaard has even been hailed as a ‘child prodigy’ by Claudio Ranieri, who enjoyed plenty of success with Leicester City in the Premier League.
The 21-year-old is currently at Sampdoria, where the versatile midfielder has bagged just two goals and four assists in his 45 appearances for them, although it seems his form for Denmark is what people have mainly been focusing on.
Speaking during a Q&A on his YouTube channel (34:52) as part of a segment where he discussed a number of options that Spurs might look to sign in the summer, he mentioned the Dane’s name as part of the cluster, but hinted that, just like last summer, Spurs wouldn’t be the only team that would show an interest in his services:
“There’s a little bit of interest in Damsgaard as well, Mikkel Damsgaard, but I think there will be a lot of interest in him as well.”

Would you like to see Spurs sign Damsgaard?
Yes
No
Interestingly, it was reported last summer that Spurs made a bid for the midfielder when Nuno Espirito Santo was in charge, so this wouldn’t be the first time the north London club have taken an interest.
Indeed, now that Spurs have Antonio Conte in charge, someone who would have watched him closely during his time in Serie A with Inter Milan, it only makes sense that they would be looking to bring him into the fold once more.
The only problem will be where he plays. Because with the ever-reliable Son Heung-min on one wing, and the impressive Dejan Kulusevski on the other, it might be hard for him to get a look-in to the Spurs side, so maybe Conte is looking to play him somewhere else in order to get him into the team.
