Former France international Samir Nasri has praised Bayern Munich teenage sensation Jamal Musiala on Twitter after yet another impressive performance amid Germany’s World Cup exit.
Musiala and Germany crashed out of the World Cup group stages for the second tournament running despite beating Costa Rica 4-2, as Spain’s loss to Japan meant they lost out on goal difference. However, the 19-year-old was a shining light in an otherwise poor overall showing from Hansi Flick’s side.
A defeat to Japan and draw with Spain took qualification out of their hands, though victory in their final group clash meant they held up their side of the bargain. However, another shock Japan victory saw qualification was brutally snatched away from their grasp.
Ex-Arsenal and Manchester City star Nasri took to Twitter to praise the Bayern star, as he played the full 90 minutes in Germany’s comeback win.
He tweeted: “Musiala, what a player.”
TIF Thoughts on Musiala…
Nasri was right to single 0ut the former Chelsea academy product for praise, and given that he was also a technical, creative midfielder in his playing days, it is praise coming from a worthy source.
Musiala played three key passes and completed an astonishing 13 dribbles as per Sofascore, which is the second-highest in World Cup history.
Although Germany crashed out, Musiala can give his nation hope for the future as they seek to begin a new era of German football.
The old guard with the likes of Thomas Muller and Manuel Neuer may now fully make way for new talents to come along, and Musiala can be the player to lead his nation through what will be a tough transitional period away from the squad which found success in 2014.
With 12 goals and 10 assists in 22 Bayern Munich appearances this season, it is clear that Musiala is one of the world’s top talents and will continue to draw adoration from those watching.
