Journalist Alasdair Gold has expressed his excitement after Tottenham Hotspur youngster Rio Kyerematen signed his first professional deal.
Earlier this month, the England U17 central midfielder committed his future to Spurs having just turned 17 years old. He recently took to Instagram to announce the news, saying how ‘proud’ he was after the contract was offered to him.
In response to this club update, Gold took to Twitter to outline his feelings on the information, saying what a nice moment it was for Kyerematen.
Indeed, the journalist wrote: “It’s not all about the first team, lovely to see young Spurs midfielder Rio Kyerematen so proud to sign his first pro deal with the club.”

TIF thoughts on Rio Kyerematen and Spurs…
It seems as though Gold wasn’t the only one pleased for the player. In an article on football.london, it was made clear that a handful of other Spurs’ prospects – such as Dane Scarlett, Alfie Devine and Jamie Donley – offered their congratulations to Kyerematen.
The 17-year-old has been handed the new deal on the back of an impressive past campaign while playing in the club’s academy set up. Playing as a midfielder in the U18 Premier League, Kyerematen managed to score seven goals while also providing four assists in 23 games (via Transfermarkt).
No doubt, it was his fine performances at that level which encouraged Tottenham to offer his a first professional contract with the club. He may still be yet to play for the senior side, but after this fresh deal, and Gold’s positive endorsement, Kyerematen certainly looks like one to keep an eye on over the next few years.
