Journalist Charlie Eccleshare has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur should sell Giovani Lo Celso this summer but it may be difficult to get a good fee for the player.
Last season, the Argentine was out on loan in Spain with Villarreal where he impressed at times – playing a key role in the club’s strong run in the Champions League.
Despite that success it doesn’t seem as though he will get a second chance at Spurs, with TEAMtalk recently reporting that he will be sold if possible this summer, while linking the likes of Sevilla and Atletico Madrid with an interest, alongside Villarreal.
However, when talking about the player on The Fighting Cock podcast, Eccleshare claimed that it may be hard for Spurs to make a lot of money on the sale due to clubs outside of England struggling financially.
The journalist said (15:31): “I think Lo Celso they will be able to get a fee for, and hopefully a reasonable one. The thing that I keep being told by people who work in football recruitment, is I think we underestimate in this country how little money there is in leagues like La Liga compared to the Premier League.
“It’s really, really hard to sell players to teams in that league and let alone other leagues like Ligue 1 and whatever, because they just don’t have the money.”
