With reports that Crystal Palace could be interested in signing other strikers from the Scottish Premiership, which could suggest Alfredo Morelos could be set to stay at Rangers beyond the winter transfer window. The Boot Room assumes that the London club’s approach of other players indicates that they are not planning on making an official bid for the Colombian.
However, Rangers fans shouldn’t get too comfortable. There are a number of reasons why Palace’s approach of Celtic’s Odsonne Edouard does not indicate a lack of interest for Morelos. The first scenario to address is that Edouard could merely be a backup option for Palace.
There has been much debate between Celtic and Rangers fans over which player is better, however, it is very difficult to find an objective answer to that question. But considering rumours surrounding Morelos’ transfer to Crystal Palace arose first, one might assume but he is their first choice. Morelos was rumoured to make the move to Palace back in October (The Sun), however, Edouard has only been linked since last weekend (The Sun). According to The Sun’s articles, Palace value both players at around £20million.
Another thing to consider is that Crystal Palace isn’t the only team interested in Morelos. Aston Villa, Leicester City and a few Championship teams have all expressed their interest (talkSPORT). Just because Palace are moving on, or exploring other options, doesn’t mean that Morelos is not a hot commodity for other teams.
Both Celtic and Rangers will be hoping they can keep ahold of their young strikers in January. If one team was to lose their player and the other stayed, it could have a huge impact on who wins the league this season. But as it stands, the future of the Frenchman and Colombian are still uncertain. Only time will tell.
