Stoke City fans have been reacting to Michael O’Neill’s post-match comments on Twitter following their side’s 4-2 defeat at Queens Park Rangers on Saturday.

Having been 2-0 up after 31 minutes through goals from Sam Clucas and Tyrese Campbell, Stoke City then capitulated over the next hour of play, with the final score reading 4-2 to QPR.

Michael O’Neill shared his thoughts after the match, stating: “To go 2-0 ahead, being in a strong position in the game, and then to lose the game 4-2 is extremely disappointing. We lost really poor goals, the goals before half time were really poor as well.”

He continued: “[It was a] difficult day for defenders… I think the game was littered with mistakes, littered with opportunities, but at 2-2, I thought we were more than capable of going on and winning the game again, but the third goal, which is the telling goal in the game, was extremely disappointing.”

Stoke fans took to social media to criticise a number of aspects of the game, including their manager’s team selection and substitutions, as well as their side’s overall poor performance.

What do we think?

Michael O’Neill’s record since taking charge at Stoke is not pleasant viewing for Potters fans, with the side having lost more often than they’ve won.

With Stoke now sitting just three points above the drop zone, O’Neill needs to start getting more from his players if they wish to remain in the Championship next season.
