Rangers will hold on to star man Alfredo Morelos until the end of the season after Chinese suitors Beijing Renhe signed two other players, according to the Scottish Sun.
The newspaper report that Beijing have signed striker Nizamdin Ependi and Wang Chu, who has played for clubs in France, Portugal and Luxembourg, in a major development in this long-running saga.
The Sun claim that Rangers will now be able to call on Morelos for the rest of the season as they look to keep the pressure on Celtic in the league and push for a massive Scottish Cup win.
It is said that Beijing were knocked back on three separate occasions by Rangers, who are now set to retain the Premiership’s top scorer with the Chinese transfer window closing tonight.
OPINION
This is massive news for Rangers, who will keep hold of the top-flight’s most prolific marksman until the summer at least. In truth, it was always unlikely that the Light Blues would lose Morelos today unless a significantly higher bid came in today. The club’s decision to rebuff all bids for the Colombian looks a good one, as he will hopefully continue that form until the summer. That would also mean that they will be able to command a big fee for the 21-year-old should he push for a move away.
