If Liverpool could find consistency, they’d be in with a good shot of winning the Premier League again next season. To reach that stage, however, it strikes me that they’d need to find more regular sources of goals. Daniel Sturridge and Raheem Sterling have shouldered too much responsibility this season.
This brings me to The Express‘s claim that The Reds are now in the market to sign Dynamo Kiev’s star winger, Andriy Yarmolenko. This should be exciting news for Liverpool fans. The Ukrainian ace is quite a talent. Even Everton boss Roberto Martinez is a fan:
“He would be a good signing for the Premier League. Any player who has got good ability in one-to-one situations and brings a goal-scoring threat can find a big role. Our league is very physical, very demanding. Yarmolenko controls the moment of the game really well. He’s got 10, 15 goals a season. He has good experience and is a good age.”
Yarmolenko scored a stunning goal against The Toffees last week, so it’s little wonder that Roberto Martinez offered up those kind words. Still, it’s hard to deny that he has a point. The Ukranian international is nothing if not consistent.
He hasn’t scored less than 13 goals in a season since 2010/11. In fact, he’s scored 77 goals over the last five seasons. He’s also done a good job for the Ukrainian international side, where he’s found the back of the net 18 times in 45 games. He’s hugely effective in the final third.
With a shortage of quality wingers in the Premier League, it’s difficult to understand why nobody has moved in sooner. Hopefully Brendan Rodgers will rectify the situation in the summer.
According to the aforementioned source, Yarmolenko could be available for £19m. That’s a lot of money, but good goal-scoring talent doesn’t come cheap nowadays. Let’s just hope that Brendan Rodgers decides to close the deal.
What’s your take? Is Andriy Yarmolenko the right choice for The Reds? Who else should they look at this summer?

We should go him,the guy is a proven goal scorer over the years.
Forget about yamolenko & Aberto Fermino n a world class striker, job done
Should send Sterling the other way to teach the little scrote a lesson, teach how good he actually has it now.
Yarmolenko would be a descent signing
But I would also sign an attacking midfielder for competition for Coutinho
So a player like Firminio would be reasonable Also a CM like Radja Nainngollan to replace Joe Allen who is not liverpool quality Finally a CB in Kyriakos Papadoupalas who is needed to replace out of form Lovren and maybe a GK to replace Brad Jones and to give quality competition to Mignolet.
