Former Tottenham Hotspur defender Alan Hutton has claimed that Harry Kane could look at potentially leaving the north London club this summer.
As things stand, the striker is set to enter the final year of his contract at Tottenham in the summer.
Recent weeks have seen the Englishman get linked with a move away from the club, with the likes of Manchester United and Real Madrid apparently interested in him.
This has since led to one pundit sharing his thoughts on the matter and what the upcoming summer transfer window could hold for the player.
Speaking to Football Insider, Hutton said this when asked if Carlo Ancelotti’s side could turn Kane’s head away from Tottenham this summer:
“I think you would have to look at it. The big question mark is how much are we talking? He is just turning 30, how much is a team willing to spend?
“A season ago, I thought he would stay for life because they got a new coach in, they were building something for the future. It is the same old again. They are probably [only] just going to make [the] top four – if they even do.
“So I think he will seriously look at it and see if he needs to go and play football elsewhere. Man United are also looking for a striker, Real Madrid obviously as well. These are teams where he could go and actually win something. It is a massive summer for him personally.”
Having previously flirted with the possibility of leaving Spurs and joining a team where he’d be able to win trophies, it’s understandable why Hutton thinks history could be repeating itself again this time around, especially since Spurs look to once again go through a season without winning a trophy.
Do you think Harry Kane will leave Spurs this summer?
Yes
No
Bearing in mind how the 29-year-old has scored 21 goals across 28 Premier League games this season, it’d be safe to suggest that it would be a big miss for Spurs if their record goalscorer were to leave this summer, while you would imagine it would be a massive blow for the supporters as well.
With Antonio Conte recently revealing that the Lilywhites want to keep hold of their star striker for the rest of his career, the fans will have to hope that the club can make sure that becomes a reality by not only keeping him from leaving this summer but also by potentially seeing him sign a new deal.
