After speaking to Jesse Marsch this week, Phil Hay believes that Jack Harrison and Crysencio Summerville will start for Leeds United on Saturday.
Leeds’ start to Premier League footballer resuming doesn’t get any easier as they lost 3-1 to the team that started their game off third in the league and now travel to face Newcastle United, who will now kick off their game third in the table.
However, after not risking either Harrison or Summerville during their midweek hammering at the hands of Manchester City, Hay believes that the electric duo will come into the starting lineup on Saturday afternoon.
After speaking to Jesse Marsch during the week, Hay has admitted on The Phil Hay Show that he can see both Harrison and Summerville being handed starting berths at St James’ Park.
(39:20) “They’ve got Tyler Adams back who will be pretty fresh and Marsch kind of hinted quite strongly that Harrison and Summerville, who weren’t used last night [against Man City] weren’t risked, would probably come into the equation and he would mix things up, I think he’s absolutely going to have to.”
Will Leeds beat Newcastle?
Yes!
No!
TIF Thoughts on Leeds’ team selection…
Indeed Leeds have a lot less rest and recovery time to prepare for the game on Saturday afternoon compared to their opponents Newcastle who played on Monday, whereas The Whites only turned out on Wednesday evening.
Therefore, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Marsch ring the changes to ensure his side are the freshest they can be when they come against one of the league’s best pressers out of possession, as highlighted by The Athletic.
So, a return to the starting lineup for two players who can dribble past a man and evade a press effectively in the form of Summerville and Harrison could be just what Marsch needs to pick up an unlikely result.
