Dan Cook believes Crystal Palace could soon throw their hat into the ring when it comes to the race for Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
Palace have long been linked with a move for the defender, who would almost end up being his own replacement, having departed Selhurst Park for £50m back in the summer of 2019.
However, the Eagles aren’t alone in their pursuit of Wan-Bissaka, with West Ham United also said to be interested in the right-back, who has fallen out of favour at Manchester United under manager Erik ten Hag.
And Cook, speaking on the HLTCO podcast, believes that the opportunity to return to familiar surroundings could help Palace land Wan-Bissaka in 2023.
He said: “It does increasingly look as though we could throw our hat into the ring and end up winning that race. I dare say there are clubs further up the footballing food chain that could attract Aaron Wan-Bissaka, but I do think that our knowledge of him and his comfort in these surroundings may well be a defining factor in his decision.”

TIF Thoughts on links to Wan-Bissaka…
It would be a sensational turn of events for Wan-Bissaka and Crystal Palace if the defender was to rock up at Selhurst Park years after leaving, particularly with the club unable to find someone capable of filling his boots ever since.
Reports have suggested that West Ham’s potential interest in a move for the 25-year-old would be a loan, so if Palace can stump up some cash upfront for Man United, they could well be inclined to sell to the Eagles next month.
Wan-Bissaka starred for Palace during the 2018/19 season under Roy Hodgson to earn himself a big-money move, but now with Patrick Vieira at the helm in SE25, there would be questions as to how good he would be under a different manager that plays a different style to what he was used to all those years ago.
