He saw a Torino transfer fall through in the summer but Celtic defedner Jozo Simunovic has been hailed a “great player” by Hoops team-mate Craig Gordon, report HITC.
Recently linked with both Newcastle United and Crystal Palace, Simunovic recently earned a rare chance to impress against Rangers in the Betfred Cup following Kolo Toure’s errors against Borussia Monchengladbach.
Running out 0-1 victors at Hampden Park courtesy of a Moussa Dembele strike, it appearsĀ not only Brendan Rodgers was impressed by Simunovic’s performance but also Gordon.
Speaking to the Daily Mail recently, Gordon claimed: “Jozo is a great player and still so young as well.
Having started four of Celtic’s 10 Scottish Premiership fixtures so far this term, the Croatian Under-21 international has been used to being a back-up choice.
However, given the calibre of his performance against Rangers, that spoke volumes about Simunovic’s professionalism and perhaps Brendan Rodgers may choose to retain him after all amidst Newcastle United and Crystal Palace’s interest.
